A frequently asked question is if we offer U-Pick for Apples, Peaches, Nectarines, Pears, and Plums. The short answer is that no, we do not offer U-Pick for any of these varieties of fruit for multitudes of reasons. We only offer U-Pick on STRAWBERRIES and CHERRIES when they are in season. However, all varieties of the fruit we grow will be available for sale in store when they are in season. Thank you all for one of the biggest U-Pick seasons in the last few years. We here at Verellen Orchards are happy to provide your families with memories that will last a lifetime. 6/15/2021 0 Comments Strawberry U-Pick now openU-Pick for Strawberries is open as of 6/15/21. With the recent COVID-19 outbreak in our home state of Michigan, many people have raised their concerns regarding the health and safety of our employees and the success of our business. We are following CDC guidelines to try and keep Verellen Orchards safe for both our customers and employees. Despite the outbreak, WE INTEND TO REMAIN OPEN unless otherwise noted. To do this, we are taking extra measures of sanitation and general safety, one of this is the introduction of a Curb-Side Pickup of our products, of which I will list more information about below. Additionally, I will include links to information about the virus, as well as how to keep both yourself and others safe. On the behalf of our family and business, I wish the best of luck to all during these troubling times. Best of Luck, Verellen Orchards 4/22/20 update As the COVID-19 epidemic rages on, more and more questions are being raised regarding many aspects of our business. We are still open, as we are deemed essential for the distribution of food. We are continuing our Curb-Side pickup, but some slight changes have been made to the Curb Side pickup procedure, which I will list below. The most significant change was pickup times, which has been moved to the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. As well as this change, we are now selling additional produce for your convenience. A full list of what we are carrying will be below. We are also enforcing a building occupancy limit of 5 people at one time. This is to help to ensure the safety of both our staff and customers. We have been maintaining a strict and rigorous schedule of sanitizing surfaces once every hour. We have installed a plexiglass shield in front of the front counter to help with the separation between our customers and our staff, to help ensure the safety of both parties involved. Finally, to be better safe than sorry, we are having our staff wear masks and gloves while interacting with customers, as has become the new normal procedure during these trying times. We will keep you updated if anything else changes. We hope you and your families are doing well in these times. Stay safe! Verellen Orchards 6/23/20 Update In recent news, 6/2/2020 marked the 100 year anniversary of the founding of Verellen Orchards. We would like to thank all of our staff and customers for making the past 100 years so memorable! As the state of Michigan begins to Re-Open, we would like to remind our customers to continue the use of safe practices and measures to protect against the spread of COVID-19. These measures include social distancing of at least 6 feet, regular hand-washing and other hygiene routines, wearing a mask and public, and staying home if you feel ill. At Verellen Orchards, we wish to provide a safe environment for both our customers and our workers. On that note, Strawberry season and U-Pick have started. For U-Pick, we have added additional measures to help maintain the health and safety of our staff and customers. We have installed two sinks for public use on the side of the U-Pick building. Even out in the Strawberry Field, we would like to encourage Public Health and Safety. To this end, we would like to ask our customers to please maintain social distancing while picking Strawberries. Unfortunately, we will not be offering Cherry U-Pick this year for two main reasons. First, our Cherry crop has been devastated by the very late spring this year, causing an incredibly low crop yield. Our other crops seem to have made it out relatively intact, but we expect about a two week delay for every upcoming Fruit Season. Second, it would be close to impossible to social distance whilst picking cherries. The trees are planted relatively close together, in a more confined area, (unlike the Strawberries). The frequent use of ladders of this activity also would make our sanitation effort much harder to maintain. So, what's next for the Cherries? Well, we will be selling what little of our crop we have in store. Otherwise, weather provided, we plan to offer Cherry U-Pick next year . Stay safe out there! Verellen Orchards |
